Freight railcar leasing specialist AAE and Knorr-Bremse agree on service partnership

To ensure secure supplies of replacement parts and bring about a further reduction in maintenance downtimes, AAE AG, Europe’s leading specialist leasing company for standard freight railcars, is banking on the comprehensive expertise of Knorr-Bremse. Applying a pioneering concept, RailServices (the specialist service provider for the rail sector within the Knorr-Bremse Group) is to optimize supplies of remanu-factured valves to AAE.

Knorr-Bremse Commercial Vehicle Systems expanding in China

Knorr-Bremse Commercial Vehicle Systems is substantially expanding its commitment to China: On July 25, 2014, Knorr-Bremse Asia Pacific (Holding) Ltd. in Hong Kong and the Chinese company Dongfeng Electronic & Technology Co., Ltd. (DETC) signed an agreement governing the formation of the joint venture company “Knorr-Bremse DETC Commercial Vehicle Braking Technology Co., Ltd.”. The new company, in which Knorr-Bremse holds a 51% stake, is to manufacture components for complete commercial vehicle braking systems in China. The realization of the joint venture is subject to the approval of the relevant anti-trust authorities.

Innovation award for Knorr-Bremse – Intelligent brake testing boosts operational efficiency

Knorr-Bremse has won the 2014 “Intelligence for Transportation and Logistics” innovation award for its newly developed Brake Pipe Length Estimation (BPLE) system. BPLE provides the driver of a freight train with a fast and easy way to check brake availability along the entire train without leaving the cab, benefiting both the safety and efficiency of freight train operation.
