Knorr-Bremse opens new production and development site for commercial vehicle systems in Kecskemét (Hungary)

In the presence of the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Knorr-Bremse yesterday officially opened a new, state-of-the-art production plant and testing center for commercial vehicle systems in Kecskemét. At the opening ceremony Heinz Hermann Thiele, owner and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Knorr-Bremse, together with Klaus Deller, Executive Board member responsible for Commercial Vehicle Systems, and site manager István Lepsényi, welcomed numerous other prominent guests, including customers and business partners as well as representatives of politics, industry, universities and the media. The new facility will enhance the company’s efficiency and strengthen its local competitiveness.

Knorr-Bremse has significantly expanded its locomotive business in the growth market of China in the past year. In 2013, the Rail Vehicle Systems Division supplied braking equipment for more than 1,000 locomotive units.

On course for further growth: Knorr-Bremse acquires two suppliers to the rail transport industry

Knorr-Bremse Systeme für Schienenfahrzeuge GmbH, Munich has acquired Transtechnik GmbH & Co. KG, based in Holzkirchen, Bavaria, and PCS Power Converter Solutions GmbH, Berlin. With the addition of these two specialists in auxiliary power converters Knorr-Bremse’s product portfolio now includes electrical systems that play a pivotal role in supplying on-board power to modern rail vehicles.

Major order from China: Knorr-Bremse to equip new high-speed trains

Knorr-Bremse has won further major orders in China. The Rail Vehicle Systems Division is to supply brake equipment for an additional 435 high-speed trains as well as door and HVAC systems for some of the carsets. The company also secured an option to equip a further 110 trains. The volume of business for the Knorr-Bremse Group totals approximately half a billion euros.

Knorr-Bremse opens new plant in Australia

On December 5, the Knorr-Bremse Group celebrated the inauguration of its new braking systems, doors and HVAC plant in Granville, Australia. The new facility was officially opened by Mr Heinz Hermann Thiele, the owner and Chairman of the Knorr-Bremse Supervisory board and Ms Gladys Berijiklian, the New South Wales Minister for Transport. Among those present at the opening ceremony were numerous customers, guests from the spheres of politics and business, and representatives of Knorr-Bremse.

Knorr-Bremse expands its presence in India and opens new plants for rail vehicle and commercial vehicle systems

Knorr-Bremse is expanding its production capacity in India in both the rail vehicle and commercial vehicle sectors. In the course of last week, the Group opened two new production facilities in Palwal and Pune, as well as a new Development Center to be shared by its two divisions.
